I relaunched this site today. Almost a year since my last post date is July 09. Lots of interesting stuff happened recently. I had a chance to work with Woothemes and Kreativethemes.

Why relaunch?

The main reason is I want to turn this site/blog into small Wordpress theme shop.

Realign or Redesign?

Redesign takes a lot of time and energy. All I did was improve the site’s user experience. I don’t see any reason to redesign the whole site from scratch because I love the previous theme very much.

ProtoPro Problem

I received lots of complaints about image doesn’t show on single page. The script aka Timthumb caused that problem.

The latest Wordpress version(2.9) allows you to use built in featured image uploader. I’ve added this feature in all themes(Photopro, Complex, ClassicMag).

I love sweetcron. Because its allow to display twitter feed as a post. But i will not change the system to sweetcron just for a function. I did simple research and found out the famous Twitter Tools plugin by Alex King allow me to do it.

So how?

1. Create a new category : twitter

2. Download the plugin.

3. Upload and activate it.

4. Go to twitter tools option page.

5. The key is to enable Create a blog post from each of your tweets?

Good luck! The rest is simple php and css.

For the last few months, I have been working on several project*. Since i have a free damn weekend free time after doing my web programming assignment, i create a new theme. I plan to release it for free and called it Fame.

I discovered some new bugs in this version. Where are page template drop down in WordPress 2.6? Ya, the page template section is missing. I couldn’t find it whenever i try to create new page with custom template. Weird @-@

So, i just play with the wp-admin dir and try search the problem. What make this thing happen?
I figured out the edit-page-form.php in 2.6 is not the same as the 2.5. They add some new function to it.

The new 2.6 :

If it not equal to zero(the number of page template in you theme dir), it will automatically appear. But the page template drop-down still not there . What i can see is they add function. It is totally different.

Solution :
I made some modification to edit-page-form.php by adding some value.

1. Go to wp-admin dir. search for edit-page-form.php
2. Open it with text editor.
3. Go to line 265. replace 0 with greater value like 110.
4. Save it.

Refresh post page. The Page Template drop down should automatically appear now.

I like the sheet but it is in .pdf file. The thing is i don’t like the format. It’s big in size and difficult to copy and paste the code. So i decide to transform the whole thing to .html file. Yeah! Light and smaller size, guess what? 10kb.

What is WP Help sheet?
It is just a file with all common code that most wordpress developer use in wp.

Why we need?
Huh? It save time btw. You don’t have to search Google or open theme file just to search one code. Increase productivity
