<p>Yesterday, <a title="http://xeroxaven.com/" href="http://xeroxaven.com/">xero</a> asked me how to install install Mac OS X Leopard on non mac hardware. I will write an article about it. I make this guide for my machine and hardware. Different hardware need different setup. This guide is for AMD. NOT FOR INTEL.</p>
<p class="alert">Backup your data before something bad happen to your hdd</p>
<p>For this guide I’m using my <strong>Compaq Presario v3614au. </strong></p>
<blockquote><p><span class="cattitle"><strong>CPU </strong>1.9GHz <strong>AMD</strong> Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core</span><br />
<strong>RAM </strong>1.5GB DDR2 667MHz<br />
<strong>Hard Drive</strong> 120GB SATA<br />
<strong>Drive</strong> DVDRW+/- dual layer<br />
<strong>Graphic Card</strong> nVidia Geforce Do 7150 3D graphics up to 559MB<br />
<strong>Wireless</strong> Broadcom 802.11a/b/g LAN<br />
<strong>Audio</strong> Conexant HD Audio<br />
<strong>Others</strong> : Bluetooth, 56k Modem &amp; 10/100Mbps LAN</p></blockquote>
<p>What do you need?</p>
<blockquote><p>1. Leopard DVD image. <strong>Leopard</strong>-<strong>10.5.2</strong>-<strong>AMD</strong>-<strong>EFI</strong><br />
2. Blank dvd+r<br />
3. Any blank External HDD drive*<br />
4. Any buring software (i use <strong>Alcohol 120%</strong>)<br />
5. you need to know what is your hardware</p></blockquote>
<p>* leopard cant detect my internal HDD. i have to use external drive.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Why use external drive?</strong><br />
In my case, for the hard drive, yes. because os x can’t detect my hard drive(windows say it is Fujitsu SATA). i have to choose external to install it. by the way, you can use thumb drive. but maybe a little bit slow.</p></blockquote>
<p>so i have xp on my internal drive and Leopard on my external drive.<br />
<img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/1s1.jpg" alt="1s" /></p>
<p>Open Windows. Download Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI from the net. Where to find that? Google, Bay or Nova.<br />
<img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/2s1.jpg" alt="2s" /></p>
<p>Put the a blank dvd in the dvd burner.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/3s1.jpg" alt="3s" /></p>
<p>Burn* it with any burning software(like Alcohol 120%).</p>
<p class="alert">*i suggest you burn it at the lower speed. 4x</p>
<p>Done and shut down Windows.<br />
On Your pc.</p>
<p>Go into Bios. Change the Boot Order preference.<br />
like this :<br />
<img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/4s1.jpg" alt="4s" /></p>
<blockquote><p>1st boot : USB external drive<br />
2nd boot : DVDROM<br />
3rd boot : HDD</p></blockquote>
<p>Exit bios. Reboot.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/5s.jpg" alt="5s" /><br />
Insert the burned ISO into dvd drive and boot it. Wait for the DVD to boot up. Select your language.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/6s1.jpg" alt="6s" /><br />
Click Agree(as you accept the T&amp;A).<br />
Go to Disk Utility(You can find in the toolbar at the top of your screen).</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/7s1.jpg" alt="7s" /><br />
Select the hard drive. Erase and format it to HFS+ Mac OS Extended (journaled) and name it Leopard.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/8s.jpg" alt="8s" /><br />
Important: Click on options and select Master Boot record. If you skip this, you wont be able to boot<br />
to Leopard after installation. To do so click Options&#8230; button, and choose Master Boot Record.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/9s.jpg" alt="9s" /><br />
make sure it MBR (master boot record)<br />
Exit Disk Utility.</p>
<p>Select a Hard Drive to install Leopard onto.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/10s.jpg" alt="10s" /><br />
Install OS X with Customizations.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/11s.jpg" alt="11s" /><br />
In the installer, I select:<br />
<strong><br />
Essential System Software</strong><br />
Additional Fonts (<strong>Optional</strong>)<br />
Language Translations (<strong>Optional</strong>)<br />
Third Party Driver<br />
<strong>Audio driver</strong> &gt; no (because no kext available)<br />
<strong>Chipset</strong> &gt; NForce 2/3/4/5<br />
<strong>Graphic Driver</strong> &gt; Nvidia 10.5.2 kext &amp; NvGeForceGO<br />
<strong>Network &amp;WiFi</strong> &gt; Broadcom Wifi<br />
<strong>EFI in MBR v.8</strong></p>
<p>proceed.</p>
<p>You can skip the &#8220;Checking Instalation Dvd&#8221; process.<br />
<img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/12s.jpg" alt="12s" /></p>
<p>Wait about 2o to 30 minutes.</p>
<p>Finish.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/13s.jpg" alt="13s" /><br />
Restart. Eject the DVD. Fill the registration form and done.</p>
<p>Yea, you have leopard on your machine.</p>
<p><img src="http://frozr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/14s.jpg" alt="14s" /></p>
<blockquote><p>Special thanks to Zephyroth, Ka911, and others who help make this great release. <p class="alert">This guide is for educational purpose only. If you love Mac OS X, get a real Mac or at least buy a copy of original Leopard</p>
<p class="green">You can copy this guide, but please link back to this page. Thank You.</p>
<p class="daily">all working perfectly except no sound(i need the kext).</p>

<p>OK. I went to lowyat plaza last week to find a (cheap) sound card for my lappy. It is because leopard cant detect my onboard sound card. I found and bought 1 usb sound card which is RM35. Sadly leopard cant find the device. Now i am planning to get <a href="http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&amp;subcategory=206&amp;product=10702" title="sb live">Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External</a>(around RM170). Oh ya, before buy, i need to check with other user at <a href="http://www.insanelymac.com/" title="http://www.insanelymac.com/">insanelymac</a> whether it will work or not. Its not fun using Leopard without sound. No music, no song, no movie, and no Youtube. <img src='http://frozr.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p class="daily">I need Mac Book Pro so bad. 10K for one notebook. no no no</p>
